Members of Chesterfield Swimming Club achieved a major medal haul at the recent Eckington Open Meet - with a total of 27 medals, including seven golds, seven silvers and three bronze.

Competitors aged from nine-13 years competed across 22 events on Sunday, May 11 at Eckington Leisure Centre.

For some of the swimmers this was their first experience of an individual competition and their performances were excellent with many personal bests being smashed across the day from Chesterfield’s 21 competitors.

Mark Tanner, head coach, said: “For some of our more experienced competitive swimmers this was a good day for achieving medals and for our swimmers new to competition this was a great opportunity for their first taste of competition. I am really proud of all of their performances.”

Chesterfield Swimming Club are North Derbyshire’s largest competitive swimming club with a hundred competitive members.

In addition to the junior competitive programme, the club also delivers a highly successful Masters programme to 20 adult swimmers; some of whom are competitive whilst others swim for fitness.

The club also provides a high quality teaching environment in its School of Splash Learn to Swim programme. If you are interested in joining the club at any level or hearing about sponsorship opportunities please get in touch with club Secretary Simon Mounsey on 01246 567771
