Chesterfield tasted their first pre-season defeat at the Impact Arena on Friday evening.

Nathan Arnold gave Alfreton the lead from 12 yards a minute before half time but the scores were levelled in the 65th minute by Danny Whitaker with a curling shot from the edge of the area.

Reds trialist Tom Denton hit the winner in the 73rd minute when he pounced on an underhit back pass.

The game, Alfreton’s first pre-season victory, was watched by 1,013 spectators
