Perhaps the long term future of football is in the artificial 3G pitches as Dronfield Town’s three games that survived the snowy weather at the weekend were all played on this new ‘bad weather defying’ surface.
Dronfield Town Saturday Seniors Reserves went to Nottingham United Reserves in the League Cup and won 2-1.
Without seven of the squad, and then two enforced substitutions due to injury during the first half, Town had to really dig deep to get a result.
After going behind in the opening minutes, Town pressed and their persistence eventually paid off with an equaliser from Chaz Bradwell and then a last minute winner from the same player deservedly sealing their passage into the next round.
Dronfield Saturday Seniors A side found themselves in a very competitive game against Totley Sports. After conceding to go 1-0 behind, they battled back to lead 3-1 thanks to an Adam Fordham brace and one from Gaz Dixon. Town’s ever dependable Ross Carey then scored a spectacular goal, his first for two years, except it was in his own net, but Town stayed in control to run out worthy 3-2 winners.
Dronfield U15s Girls beat Beighton Falcons 5-0. The excellent Chloe Channer with two and one each from Chloe Ford, Heather Whitehead, and India Thompson-Carr.
