Chesterfield Cylinders Crown Green Bowling Club are confident their future will soon be secured.

Chesterfield Borough Council has agreed in principle to lease part of the recreational fields at White Bank Close, Hasland, back to the club for the next 25 years.

The ground has been there home for nearly a century.

In a bid to become self sufficiant within the next two years, the club is eager to recruit new members and is holding an open day on Sunday, March 24 between 12 noon and 4pm at White Bank Close.

Team captain Timothy Yarnall was confident the club’s future will be sorted in the near future and was keen to dispel the myth it is a sport for the elder generation.

He said: “Anyone who is interested in trying crown green bowling for the first time or those more experienced bowlers are welcome to come along and meet the club members and have a go free of charge.”
