Newcomers make their mark

Two first season newcomers to Chesterfield Athletics Club have already made their mark in the UK national rankings.

Katy Gigg (U13G), coached by Ian Menzies, has already established herself as a middle-distance runner of some promise.

Her personal bests for the 800m (2:27.08) and 1500m (5:04.05) put her 23rd for each distance.

Brandon Lewis (U11B), coached by Dave Kitchen, is ranked 5th in the high jump rankings with his best height of 1.26m.

Both were in action in recent Open meetings when Brandon won the 80m (12.3s) and long jump (3.80m) at Rotherham, and Katy won the 800m in 2:30.5 at Doncaster.
