Athletics: Tom first home for Ripley Runners

Ripley Running Club had three competitors at the 20th Ashbourne Duathlon in the Peak District.

Carsington Water was the setting for the multi-sport race consisting of a 12km run, followed by a very hilly 40k cycle, finished off with another 4k run section.

Tom Swift was first back for Ripley in sixth place with splits of 48.53 (12k), 1.10.35 (40k), 15.12 (4k).

Ian Duffin followed just behind in 29th place (49.33- 1.23.49- 14.40.) Jon Marriott completed the Ripley trio in 56th place (56.33-1.25.02-17.38) as 129 competitors finished the race.

While 116 competitors took part in Chesterfield’s No Walk in the Park, held at Queen’s Park.

Martin Penny completed the 3 lap race in 19.12, good enough for 15th. Jo Howett continued her good racing form in 54th (22.02) and Lisa Cashmore’s journey back from injury took another big step in 112th (30.03).
