In the final of the Pairs Snooker Competition at Hasland, the Alfreton duo of Glen Shawcroft and Kennedy Wright faced Clowne Lib pair of Stephen Bedford and Ian Scrafield, writes John Allan.
It was a mouth-watering match prospect on paper between four fabulous players, all capable of producing fantastic snooker.
The first frame saw the Alfreton pair take a good lead wanting blue, pink and black.
Young Bedford did the business and took the first frame 62-44.
The second frame went to the Alfreton pair after some scrappy play but this was the final.
The Clowne pair took the third frame 66-36.
The fourth and fifth frames saw the Alfreton duo come to the table and stamp their authority on the game and won the trophy.
