Two Bakewell Brownie leaders - who have clocked up a total of 67 years' service between them - have received community awards.

Doreen Furness started up the 1st Bakewell (Parish Church) Brownies 45 years ago and although now 'retired' for the past five years she still helps on the fringes with events such as the Brownies' well dressing in Bath Gardens.

Meanwhile Angela Swift has been Guider in charge of 2nd Bakewell (Methodist) Brownies for 27 years. She is due to retire in the summer along with Jennifer Morewood (Snowy Owl).

In addition to her work with the Brownies, Angela has given 28 years' service to the Bakewell branch of the Royal British Legion, serving as chairman, secretary and also country secretary.

She is the Bakewell grassroots correspondent for the Derbyshire Times.
Doreen and Angela were presented with their awards by Civic chairman Mrs Cate Hunt at a ceremony at Matlock Town Hall.
