An air raid siren wailed and some of Britain's most popular wartime songs were heard again in Ashover on Friday as villagers turned back the clock for a nostalgic charity theme night and supper.
The event raised £1000 for Ashover's All Saints Church.
Host of the "You must remember this" Forties special was one of the area's most popular entertainers, Gerry Kreibich, for whom it evoked special memories.
On VE day, 12-year-old Gerry was on the back of a truck playing tunes like 'Roll Out the Barrel' while his family's Manchester neighbours enjoyed a street party.
The evening was organised by members of Ashover Church Flower Guild led by Anne Eyley and included some of the best-loved wartime sounds and songs, music for dancing, comedy and a Forties quiz.
Cabaret acts were provided by Ron Eyley and Derek Marrison as Flanagan and Allen and Sylvia Dyson as Vera Lynn.
