Firefighters rescued a pregnant woman after she was trapped in a car following a two vehicle road traffic collision.

The collision happened on Stony Ridge Road, near the Fox House pub, above Hathersage, about 3.55pm, on Sunday.

A fire service spokesman said: "There were two females trapped in an over-turned convertible car and one was pregnant."

Firefighters from Hathersage, Bakewell and South Yorkshire were called out and crews freed the trapped casualties and made the area safe within an hour and 20 minutes.

An ambulance paramedic crew treated the two casualties, according to the fire service.

Witnesses are urged to call South Yorkshire police on 0114 2202970.
