A pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious head injuries after being involved in a collision with a car.
Emergency services were called out to Newbold Road in Chesterfield at around 8pm on Sunday after a black Fiat Scudo and a male pedestrian collided.

The collision occurred in the carriageway itself and meant the road needed to be closed while the emergency vehicles were on the scene.

The pedestrian, a 21-year-old man, was taken to Chesterfield Royal Hospital by ambulance with head injuries and was in what was described as a critical, but stable, condition.

By Tuesday he had regained consciousness and was able to hold a conversation.
