Matlock's swimming pool will stay closed until at least October while work is completed on its roof.
Derbyshire Dales District Council chiefs have decided to keep the lido closed after an inspection found that an extensive amount of work had to be carried out.

Consultant engineers are currently preparing a scheme for the repairs, including the ti
me it will take to complete.

More information on the extent of the work being carried out is expected to be available by the end of August.

Dave Brooks, the district council's director of planning and development, said: "We very much regret having to temporarily close the main pool at the Lido but the safety of our users has to be our primary concern."

"We are doing all we can to address the current problems and to reopen the main pool for our customers' enjoyment as soon as is practically possible."

Matlock's swimming pool closed down at the end of July after a piece of cladding on the ceiling became dislodged.

The gym and the learner pool at Matlock Lido will remain open while work is being carried out on the main pool.
