The new playgroup at Hartington Primary School has been awarded £200 via the Wirksworth Children's Centre to buy more toys.
Mums and carers who attend have chosen to spend this money on providing dressing up outfits, puppets and construction toys together with some extra craft resources.

Following discussions with the members using the playgroup, Beth Freeman from the centre will be visiting once a month to run various activities such as messy play.

Health visitor Jane Goldthorpe will also be joining the group once a month on a regular basis to provide support.

The Stay & Play is run by local mums and meets every Thursday afternoon term times (1.30-3pm) in the main school hall at Hartington, where free play is mixed with craft activities.

There is a sensory room for use by small babies and their carers and the group can also use the outdoor playground in good weather.

Children up to school age are welcome to pop along with an adult and join in, as are expectant mums. Juice and drinks are provided for all and costs £1 for walking tots and just 50p for babies. (First visit is free of charge).

For more information, contact Candice Thompson on (01298) 84449.
