Parishioner Rick Naylor battled against wind and rain across the country to help raise £8,000.
Mr Naylor and his son Simon took a journey from Land's End to John O' Groats - some 874 miles - in his classic MGC GT to raise funds for building repairs and a new kitchen for Bakewell Parish Church.

Rick said: "The car behaved beautifully, with the only slight hitch being a loose windscreen wiper – a screwdriver soon put that right. The weather was absolutely awful, with heavy rain all the way from Cornwall to Glasgow."

Further donations can be made by contacting Rick on (01629) 812457 or by writing to him at 15 Castle Mount Crescent, Bakewell. DE45 1AT.
