BUDDING actors will be treading the boards next week when they perform a Shakespeare comedy classic.
Having put on only one Shakespeare play some years ago - The Merry Wives of Windsor - the Hathersage Players thought it was time to give the Bard another airing.

The Taming of the Shrew is a comedy about the age-old battle of the sexes where a young man suddenly finds it necessary to get a wife - preferably a rich one.

However, the girl he chooses is regarded by all, including her family, as an evil-tempered man-hater.

Performances take place at the village's Memorial Hall each evening from Wednesday 15, to Saturday, October 18, starting at 7.30pm.

Tickets are available from Christine Marshall on 01433 651732 or 07796 490880.
