Time they let me retire

Have your say

FURTHER to my letter in Times Talk of May 26.

Well, I went to work on Friday and was told that I may be out of work by the end of August. The place I work at needs to make savings.

So it’s back on the road again looking for work, trying to get a permanent full-time job in Chesterfield. I don’t want to work anywhere else. I am sick of driving miles to work and back.

I applaud your efforts to get the young into work. I have done 42 years since I left school. Would it not be better to let such as me retire and give the work to those that are just starting out? I think I have done enough years but any government in power thinks we should keep working ’til we drop.

I don’t want that.
