Relief over homes plan

REGARDING the article ‘£52m to revamp homes’ (Derbyshire Times, February 24).

This is obviously fantastic news for NEDDC and Rykneld Homes. The decent homes programme was already up and running.

Rykneld Homes had signed a £104 deal with private contractors, Appollo and Ian Williams, for the four years, so the funding must come as a great relief to all concerned.

The Rykneld workers who were forced to join the two private companies must also be very relieved that work is available.

As a tenant I must say the new kitchens are excellent, but I understand that the prefab Airey Houses will not be brought up to insulated standard unless there has been a rethink.
