Watching the Chesterfield-Oldham 2nd leg match put me in mind of the famous Ali v Foreman fight of 1974.
Mohammed Ali (Chesterfield) spent much of the early part of the contest on the ropes, being lambasted by a much stronger George Foreman (Oldham), who most neutrals expected to win. As the fight progressed however, both Ali and Chesterfield got stronger, until in the closing scenes the wily old fox (in this case Jack Lester) delivered the knock-out blow.
There followed wild scenes of exuberance on the away terraces at Oldham and back at the B2Net, and no doubt in countless Derbyshire living rooms.
We can stay up!
