LETTER: Well done to GP practices

I would like to pay tribute to the eight Derbyshire GP practices who have taken significant steps to make themselves better places for people with dementia to visit.

Over the last year more than 300 staff have taken Dementia Friends information sessions and many practices now have a ‘Dementia Champion’ place.

This week, our chief executive, Jeremy Hughes CBE will be giving certificates to staff from Stewart Medical Centre in Buxton, Bakewell Medical Centre, North Wingfield Medical Centre in Chesterfield, Crag’s Health Care in Creswell, Brailsford and Hulland Medical Centre, Adam House Medical Centre in Sandiacre, Eden Surgery in Ilkeston and Willington Surgery in Derby.

There are 14,000 people living with dementia in Derbyshire and many of them will now have a better experience when they need to see their GP.
