LETTER: Response to 999 call was excellent

My wife had a stroke at 10.30pm, so I dialled 999 for help and their response to my call was excellent.

Thereafter, the Chesterfield Royal Hospital’s rapid response team sent a paramedic who, after examining her, phoned its A&E department requesting an ambulance and be ready to receive and process a stroke victim. On arrival, a dedicated medical team immediately sent her for a brain scan and then to the stroke unit’s recovery room — all within a period of 45 minutes.

The blood clot has been removed and whatever happens now is in the lap of the gods, but, thanks to the rapid response team, my wife’s chances of a successful recovery has been dramatically increased.

Can I also thank the specialists and staff on the stroke unit.
