LETTER: Investing in eco energy will create jobs

Climate scientists have been warning us for years that we cannot afford to burn any more fossil fuels.

According to the extensive coverage in the last two issues of the Derbyshire Times, Ineos plan to facilitate exactly that, by fracking for shale gas. All the assurances of safe operation pale to insignificance beside the fundamental problem of climate change.
Serious investment in renewables (such as turbines on the River Derwent) would fulfil the same need, and create at least as many jobs as fracking.
