The Derbyshire Times is your newspaper - and we never, ever forget that.
Over the past year the team and I have worked hard and with great passion to make the Derbyshire Times a title of which you can be proud.
We asked what you wanted to see more of and you told us:
l A puzzles page - we launched Coffee Break
l More ‘looking back’ features - we introduced a weekly Retro page and a monthly RetroExtra supplement
l More positive news about young people and more schools news - we launched the monthly Times Education pull-out which is packed every month with news from our schools and colleges.
l More letters - a year ago our letters page averaged five letters a week. It now routinely carries more than double that. We love to receive your letters - and in addition our Facebook and Twitter sites make it even easier to communicate with us.
l More positive stories - we publish more ‘good news’ than ever in the Derbyshire Times and, to make sure we maintain a positive outlook, we launched the I’m Inspired Campaign to celebrate all the great things going on on our patch.
l More news from the courts - we recently introduced Reports from the Courts, a brief but important means of letting the public know how justice is being dealt by out local magistrates’ court.
l More ‘What’s on’ listings and local restaurant reviews - both feature in our great new leisure guide launched this week.
All this aside, of course, the very core of our business is bringing you the very best news, sport and entertainment - with full in-depth coverage in paper and stories as they break on our website, www.derbyshiretimes.co.uk.
We have lots of plans for the rest of the year, including a new Scouting About column, a Young Photographer of the Year competition and a new awards scheme giving cash to local groups and organisations - so watch this space.
Thankyou for your valued readership.
