I'd like to thank all of your readers who helped us confront dementia during Dementia Awareness Week in Derbyshire recently.

In Matlock we celebrated a pioneering project with eight Derbyshire GP practice managers to make their surgeries more dementia friendly.

We had busy information stands in Derby, Chesterfield and Church Gresley.

We celebrated the launch of Dementia Action Alliances in Amber Valley and Erewash and we even had the opening of a dementia friendly checkout at a supermarket in Alfreton.

The condition affects 14,000 people in Derbyshire but many are living without any support or advice.

We are calling on people to confront dementia head on and to come to Alzheimer’s Society for help and support - call our local office on 01332 208845 or speak to your GP if you are worried about your memory.
