Congratulations are due to Chesterfield Borough Council for the way they maintain the grass verges, parks and traffic islands in these difficult times of economic challenges (and I should know as I work for a Local Authority outside of Derbyshire).
I have been particularly inspired by the approach to Chesterfield from the motorway, and how well maintained is our ‘gateway’ to Chesterfield, although one of my special favourites is the wild flower traffic island in Loundsley Green.
Also, my partner and I visited Queens Park on Tuesday evening for a performance of McBeth by ‘Oddsocks’ Theatre Company. It was a delightful surrounding and so well maintained, the trees and grass gave a tremendous backdrop to the performance.
Having visited the south coast recently, I can now come home and really appreciate the work and dedication that has gone into looking after our green space. Thank you to all those involved, I am proud of Chesterfield.
