Have you heard the strange buzzy noise at Cutthorpe?

Have your say

This may seem a little strange but recently I am being disturbed by a low frequency noise, something like a distant diesel engine turning over.

It is very annoying yet some people cannot hear it!

The noise seems to start around 7.30pm to 8.30pm and lasts for varying lengths of time - some times 15 or 20 minutes and other times 2 to three hours.

Both my son and I can hear this noise but my wife cannot.

It is prevalent in the house and yet when I go outside to listen I cannot hear it.

It seems to be amplified in small places, for example inside wardrobes. I thought that maybe something in the house was the cause but it remains when everything is switched off.

Having surfed the web I find that this is in fact quite common (Google “the hum”) and and yet the low frequency noise cause is unanswered.

I would be interested to know if any other Derbyshire Times readers has heard this strange noise but thought that they had imagined it!
