Hasland roundabout trouble is someone’s vanity

Gordon cotton-pickin’ Bennett!

I’ve just spent half an hour stuck in a two mile tailback on the Hasland by-pass.

Which idiot had the idea to muck about with the roundabout?

Was it the same twit who re-designed the approach signs as wavy gravy?

Not only is money wasted on a piece of egocentricity, but think of the fuel wasted by road users sitting in that there traffic jam, money wasted, pollution created, tempers frayed.

People who use the A61/ A617 are not attracted by someone’s idea of “art”, they want to get where they are going with as little trouble as possible, they watch traffic lights, not sculptures.

That roundabout vies with the one at Whittington as the worst in Derbyshire, it will not be enhanced by someone’s vanity.

The removal of the shrubbery from the centre of the structure improved motorists’ view across it, making for safer driving, the proposed piece of male bovine egesta will set safety back again.

My outburst will, no doubt, be dismissed sneeringly by the perpetrators, they need to get in touch with reality and most of all, with the people of Spiretown and North Derbyshire.
