Give us more consideration

I AM a dialysis patient at the renal unit at Chesterfield Royal Hospital.

I would like to thank the nursing team in this unit for their care, efficiency and friendliness during dialysis.

This is a trying process and often one feels unwell and it is reasonable to expect to be transported home without an extensive waiting time. I have to say that at Chesterfield this is frequently a forlorn hope.

Not only do we often have to wait for periods of up to an hour, but sometimes, as happened to me last Friday, we are not even included in the list.

I could walk the distance of five miles in about an hour and a half I suppose as I did not not have sufficient funds for a taxi. Fortunately they made last ditch arrangements for me but this can hardly be regarded as effiicient. Surely patients on dialysis should be treated with rather more consideration.
