I RECENTLY read your article “Help us find 100 new apprentices” and would like to take this opportunity to say how great it is that you are trying to get more young people into apprenticeships.
I have recently started my AAT studies at The Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce as an apprentice working at The Accounting Group in Chesterfield.
My experience here so far has been very enjoyable and I feel that the training I am receiving at work is of a very high standard.
All the staff here have been very supportive and I do not feel that I would have received the one to one tutoring that I have had at The Accounting Group elsewhere.
My decision to enter into the apprenticeship route was made after I started university and found that this was not the right route for me.
I think that too many young people feel pressured into going to university whereas this route enables me to gain valuable work experience whilst gaining a recognised qualification.
I hope that Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire’s Chamber of Commerce is successful in finding work placements for 100 apprentices and that they enjoy their experience as much as I am.
