ABOUT 20 youngsters are rallying through Derbyshire calling for more jobs.
The protesters – who are marching from Jarrow to London – stopped off at Chesterfield today (Thursday).
They are demanding that the government addresses the issue of “massive” youth unemployment.
Joined by supporters from Derbyshire Unemployed Workers Centres, the youngsters held a rally addressed by north east Derbyshire MP Natascha Engel in Eckington.
They moved on to New Whittington and Old Whittington before marching to the threatened Remploy Factory on Whittington Moor.
Tony Moore, 23, one of the protesters, said: “We need to stand up for today’s young people.”
The protesters are re-enacting the Jarrow March of 1936, when workers from the town of Jarrow on the banks of the Tyne marched on Parliament with a petition for jobs.
