Health leaders are urging people not to care in silence as they mark National Carers Week between June 9 and 14.
GPs and health professionals are appealing to youngsters to come forward if they care for a relative but have not told anyone.
According to Derbyshire Carers’ Association, there are more than 2,000 carers aged 16 to 25 in the county however there may be many unknown.
GPs are encouraging parents and teachers not to allow carers to go unnoticed. Derbyshire’s four clinical commissioning groups fund a young carers’ service with Derbyshire County Council to provide relief, improve education, build friendships and enable youngsters and parents to feel better.
