Work to dismantle the former Buxton Mineral Water site in the centre of the town is now well underway.
The building, on Station Road, is being demolished following the company’s move to a new state-of-the-art bottling plant at Waterswallows.
A statement from Nestle, who own Buxton Mineral Water, said: “As part of our safety and security precautions we have begun the demolition of the buildings on the site of our old factory at Station Road.
“The council were informed of our plans and raised no objections.
“The demolition is progressing according to plan and is due to be completed within the next few weeks.
“We are continuing to look at options for the site’s future use and will work closely with the council in regards to the local plan for development of the corridor.”
Supporting documentation for the planning application to demolish the building states: “the buildings are aged, dilapidated and unsuitable for refurbishment or alternative use.
“The property is out of use and due to its proximity to Buxton town centre presents a risk to intruders despite efforts to secure the site.”
