THIS once boring tree bark has come alive with stunning animal sculptures – wowing pensioners at a Chesterfield retirement village.
An impressive owl, hare and squirrel were meticulously chainsaw carved into the old piece of wood in the gardens of the Lifestyle retirement village, in Old Whittington, by sculptor Lorraine Botterill.
The remarkable sculpture was carved over three days. Jackie Carrington, resident manager, said: “It’s absolutely beautiful to just sit and look at.
Everyone thinks it’s wonderful. We feel very lucky to have it in our garden.”
