Woman brought to justice over fly-tip

A CRESWELL woman was tracked down and fined after her domestic rubbish was found in the countryside with torn letters linking the waste to her home address.

Chesterfield magistrates’ court heard how Catherine Lomas, of Sheffield Road, admitted the eight black bags of domestic rubbish found on Highwood Lane, Whitwell Common, by a Bolsover District Council officer was her waste.

Lomas claimed that she had missed bin collections and asked her son to dispose of the waste at the local tip but pleaded guilty to failing to use an authorised person for disposal. She was ordered to pay £181 including her fine, a victim surcharge and legal costs.
