A STAINED glass window on the Crooked Spire church has had its first clean since it was fitted 65 years ago.
Specialist stained glass restorer, Michael Stokes spent two weeks cleaning the piece, which was made in 1947 by designer Christopher Webb.
He said: “The window really is immense. I think it may be one of Webb’s biggest commissions.
“It is rare to see windows in that state. It was very dirty, but the clean has brought the faces on the window back to life.”
Scaffolding used for the clean was taken down last Wednesday.
