MOTORISTS suffered long delays when a woman became trapped in a damaged car after a collision with a van.
The collision happened at the junction of the A619 and A6403 at Whitwell, about 2.40pm, on Tuesday, May 7, between a Seat Ibiza car and a Volkswagen van.
Firefighters freed the 35 year-old woman from the wreckage of the car and she was taken to hospital but police believe she had not suffered serious injuries.
A police spokesman said: “Vehicles needed to be removed from the scene of the collision and the road was closed by police until 6.30pm before it was made safe for other motorists.”
Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision to call 101 to help establish exactly what happened.
