SUPER-FIT gym members raised over £5,000 after taking part in a marathon static bike spinathon for the armed forces’ Help for Heroes charity.

Fitness First, on Sheffield Road, Chesterfield, hosted the six-hour spinathon with 40 fund-raising spinners who were spurred on their way by buglers from the British Legion Drum Corps.

A Fitness First spokesman said: “Four instructors took turns to urge the team to maximum pace and effort and they were helped on by a music including an Abba performance from the Young Inspiration Theatre Group.

“Thanks are due to staff who supplied equipment and the venue and the instructors who gave their time and ensured everyone kept going.”

The money was presented last month to Help for Heroes, which helps injured service personnel, following the festive spinathon in December.
