The Met Office has forecast a breezy start to the day with some sunny spells and scattered showers this morning (December 31).
A more organised band of showery rain will spread east through the region later this afternoon, and forecasters said this may become heavy and thundery in places. Maximum Temperature 9°C.
Tonight, temperatures will drop below zero with a minimum forecast of -1 degrees centigrade and showers will clear away will all areas seeing some good clear skies, and as winds fall light a widespread frost is likely for New Years Day.
But after a frosty start, the region should see some good sunny spells through tomorrow morning, followed by cloud and likely rain in the afternoon.
