President Roger Wright chaired the Rotary Club of Warsop, Shirebrook and District monthly business meeting at the Hostess Restaurant on Thursday. 17 members attended together with honorary member Malcolm Nicholas and guest Geoff Milnes. It was announced that a number of members attended the funeral the previous day of Tony Hewson the former secretary and treasurer.
A cheque will be given for the Nottinghamshire Fire Fighters Memorial within the next month. A £500 cheque was given for Aquabox, £250 for The Sisters of Mercy Charity and £250 for Sue Kemp for her Nepal Charity. A cheque was given to Sally Dodds to support her at the Guildhall School of Music.
The afternoon pizza event organised by Rotarian Rob Pasierb, raised £160 for the Eradication of Polio Charity. Together with the Mansfield club money was raised towards supporting a family in need.
Rob Pasierb announced that he would co-ordinate the collection of Tesco and Sainsbury school vouchers.
The final of the Young Chef will be held on 27th February at Kirkby. Bethany Lyons who won the club heat will take part.

Friday, July 12, the club will host their biggest concert at Scarcliffe Lanes Farm, Upper Langwith, featuring Mercury (the famous Queen covers band) and Ferocious Dog (Warsop’s own folk rock band). Licensed bar applied for and food available. Tickets will be on sale shortly.
