AN inspirational teacher is celebrating after completing a challenging sponsored walk.

Chesterfield College lecturer Caroline Fernandez, 28, who had to learn how to walk again after being struck by cancer, joined dozens of people on the walk from Chesterfield to Sheffield to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust Unit, where she received treatment.

Caroline, of Searston Avenue, Holmewood, who embarked on the walk ten years after finishing treatment for a bone tumour in her left leg, said: “It went really well – it was a lovely sunny day and there was lots of camaraderie.”

Their efforts raised £3,500 - £1,000 more than expected.
