A CHARITY is celebrating a bright start for their annual appeal.

Voluntary group Chesterfield Bloomers is helping Marie Curie Cancer Care to raise funds.

In three days the Chesterfield group raised £2,487 for March’s Great Daffodil Appeal.

Volunteers delivered collection boxes to over 150 shops and businesses across the town and helped organise collections at the town’s Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and Dobbies.

A spokesman for Chesterfield Bloomers said: “This is a fantastic amount of money and the we would like to say a great big thank you to the people of Chesterfield for supporting Marie Curie and donating so generously to this cause.

“They would also like to thank the extra volunteer collectors who have given up their free time to help with these collections.”

Volunteers will be in the town centre all day on Saturday, look out for their bright yellow hats and tabards

Anyone interested in joining the fundraising group should email chesterfield.bloomers@gmail.com.
