COUNCIL bosses helped bring peace of mind to concerned residents during a public presentation about a new security scheme aimed at fighting crime and deterring burglars and thieves.
Clowne Parish Council has launched a £9,000 SmartWater Technology Ltd crime prevention system throughout its village and hosted a presentation at Clowne Community Centre this month.
The system involves invisible markers and sprays to mark goods with secret, unique personalised codes which can only be revealed by ultra violet light.
These marks help police link recovered stolen goods back to owners, link suspected offenders back to crime scenes and serve as deterrents to budding offenders.
The scheme has been funded by the parish council and partners including Derbyshire County Council, Derbyshire Constabulary and the Bolsover Local Strategic Partnership and includes warning stickers and signs for businesses and residents.
