VIDEO: Brave Derbyshire schoolgirl Millie, 11, shaves her head for charity

Derbyshire schoolgirl Millie-May Leder has made the kind of sacrifice which might terrify many young girls.

The 11-year-old had all of her hair shaved off in front of her schoolmates yesterday (Wednesday).

Millie and her mum Kim saw Kim’s best friend Jo die of cancer in October 2015, and the loss hit both of them very hard.

Millie said: “I want to do something special for my relatives who have died or survived cancer. It is a terrible sickness, and we should support all those who have it or have had it.”

Millie, a pupil at Heanor Gate Science College, has already raised more than £500 for Cancer Research UK ahead of the stunt, to help fund potentially life-saving research and care services.
