VIDEO AND PICS: Open day at Staveley Fire Station

Staveley Community Fire Station opened its doors to the public for a family open day at the weekend.

The free event, which took place on Saturday, encouraged all ages to get involved.

There was a variety of different events held at the open day, including demonstrations and mini fire engine rides.

A furry friend, Dexter, the fire investigation dog also made an appearance.

Other attractions included a show of vintage fire vehicles and lifeboats from Watersafe UK Search and Rescue Team.

There were also food and drink stalls along with fund-raising for various charities such as Children in Need and Help for Heroes.

Numerous open days have taken place over the last few weeks around Derbyshire including at Alfreton and Chesterfield Fire Stations,

Future open days include Shirebrook Fire Station on August 6, Glossop Fire Station on August 13 and Swadlincote Fire Station on August 20.
