VANDALS have caused £600 worth of damage to a children’s play area.

Three park benches were ripped up, block paved floor damaged and playground equipment was torched during the attack at the site on Lansbury Avenue, Mastin Moor, between 9.30pm and 11pm on Saturday, October 6.

PCSO Sue Cooke said: “The park is a real focal point for the community in Mastin Moor and it is both disappointing and sad to see the damage that has been caused, especially in the children’s play area.

“We are currently targeting the area as a priority, and stepping up patrols to deter this unacceptable behaviour and to reassure local residents.

“I would urge anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area to contact us.”
