Police are continuing to hunt ram raiders who used a JCB to steal a cash machine from a petrol station.
The crime happened at the Central England Co-operative on Chesterfield Road, Duckmanton, at about 4am on Friday – leaving a scene of devastation.
The JCB was used to lift the cashpoint away from the wall and into a white Vauxhall Vivaro van which had its roof cut off.
A Derbyshire police spokesman said the van – which had been stolen from an address in Eckington earlier this month – and the cash machine were later found near Buttermilk Lane in Bolsover.
The spokesman added: “It’s believed several vehicles were involved and it’s understood the offenders made off on the M1.
“We’re making enquiries to find out if they went north or south.”
The shop and adjoining petrol station reopened on Saturday after being shut on Friday.
A Central England Co-operative spokesman said: “We are working with the police while they investigate this matter.
“We thank customers and colleagues for their support and patience during this time.”
Witnesses to the crime or anyone in the area who has CCTV should call Derbyshire police on 101. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
