UPDATE: NINE men arrested after serious assault in Inkersall with victim kicked and punched

They heard footsteps behind them and the group began assaulting the man, kicking and punching him. The 20-year-old suffered head and facial injuries. He has now been discharged from hospital.

A man in a BMW stopped to help the victim and police are trying to trace him in case he has information which could help the inquiry.

Eight men have been arrested in connection with the assault and released on bail.
