Unearthing secret gardens

The secret gardens of Wirksworth will be opened to the public for a weekend of horticultural bliss.

Wirksworth Hidden Gardens and Courtyards weekend will take place on Saturday and Sunday, June 28 and 29.

There will be are more than 20 gardens to view, with some offering tea, cakes and other refreshments.

There will be animals for youngsters to see, live music to enjoy, nurseries selling plants and a miniature railway.

A free music night will be held on the Saturday from 7pm at the Star Disc, in Stoney Wood, with local bands playing.

Ecclesbourne Valley Railway will be operating trains to and from Duffield throughout the weekend, and many of the town’s traders will be opening throughout the weekend.
