Having won the County Championship in 2010 and 2012, Tupton Wi’s quiz team was invited to represent the county at the regional heats in Nottinghamshire of the national WI quiz.
These heats took place in early April, but despite everyone’s best efforts, the Tupton team of Pam Cash, Phyl Scothern, Jill Stokes and Pat Walton failed to win on the night.
At the branch’s April meeting, local magistrate Gordon Johnson talked about his work on the Chesterfield bench and as an independent monitor in prisons. Many of the members knew very little about the workings of the legal system, and found his experiences illuminating and very thought-provoking. Jean Groom gave the vote of thanks.
Refreshments were made by Frances Alldread and Hilary Sterland.
