Trapped car crash casualty rescued

FIREFIGHTERS freed a trapped casualty from a car after the vehicle rolled over during a crash in the Peak District.

The vehicle which had been travelling along the A623 road at Sparrowpit, near Castleton, about 9pm, yesterday, Tuesday, April 20, was discovered overturned.

A Derbyshire fire service spokesman said: “One vehicle was found on its side off the road way with one casualty trapped.”

Firefighters from Chapel-en-le-Frith and Whaley Bridge were called out and an ambulance crew assessed the casualty before fire crews freed them from the vehicle on a spine board.

Police also attended the rescue and the emergency services made the area safe within an hour and 20 minutes.
