Pet lovers are being invited to the Spire Toy Dog Society Show as the society celebrates 50 years of exhibitions.
The show will be held at Sharley Park Leisure Centre, at Clay Cross, from 9am to 3pm, on Sunday, November 24.
Launched in August, 1963, by Dorothy Dearn, Edith Parkin and others, the society has attracted competitors and judges from across the country as it has grown in popularity. It holds two exhibitions a year.
Show manager Lynn Webster said: “It’s like a miniature Crufts where dogs will be competing for Best in Show, Best of Breed and other titles.”
About 23 dog breeds can be involved including Chihuahua and Pekingese and this year’s prizes have been engraved to mark the anniversary.
